According to the seller, this is a 'LUV 5 speed transmission', but I don't recognize the bell housing, or any of it really. It looks quite different than the others I've seen.
I see a whole mess of little splines on that output shaft though...

The last two 5 speeds I found were the 10-spline variety, with the older style 4 bolt plate in the bell housing instead of the 6 bolt plate that I'm told corresponds to the 86-87 MSG trans many of us are on the hunt for.

Is this the one? JoeIsuzu? Oldestisizuist?

I can't tell much from that photo, but it doesn't look like anything I've seen.

I've never seen the 4 bolt cover on a 5-speed. That 6 bolt cover was used on the '81-'85 transmissions, too (including my '83).

It kinda looks like a 5 speed out of a S10.

Thanks for the resolution, Cleaver. The case itself is pretty different from anything I was able to find during a quick search, but the tail housing and shifter are clearly very similar, if not identical, to those from the S10

Well done cb6tig1! That solves it. That's exactly it, isn't it.

Also good to know it's not a recommended choice.
