Hi guys.

I have a 74 2wd luv which is geared extremely low.
Were there different diff ratio options for these trucks?
Can I buy something new to increase the ratios or can I use a diff center from an Isuzu kb20?
If so what am I looking for?

Nick

Early LUVs came with 4.56 gears, the rear end is a corporate Isuzu 10-bolt & was used in various Isuzu vehicles in various ratios here in the US, probably the same where you live.
Different gear ratios available are 4.78, 4.56, 4.30, 4.10, 3.90, 3.73 & 3.42.
The 3rd member with a suitable ratio should interchange.
For the 3.73 & 3.42 ratios look first to diesel powered vehicles.

I suspected he wasn't from the US. He may have other options than what we have here.

So just to confirm ozluvtrucker, if I find one of those vehicles at a wreckers, I can pull the diff internals and they will bolt straight into the luv housing?

Yes, all KB rodeos either 2wd or 4x4 will have either a 4.11 or 4.55 that will bolt into your Luv housing, also early Holden Jackaroo's up untill 86 when they changed from a 10bolt rear to a 12 will also bolt in you will only find 4.55 either open or LSD.
Early Holden Piazza will fit also (im unsure of yrs very short run i hear) will fit and you will most likely find 3.90 LSD.
Good luck finding 4.11, i have been searching for a front and rear for my KB but no luck yet, i have been lucky and found a few 4.55 LSD and 1 rare 3.90 LSD

Are all the luv and kb 25 the same ratio? I have a kb25 diff out of my 80 mod if it's any different to what you already have, just sitting in the shed since I've done my new rear end.I'm in tassie.
