So guys, as the engine sits inside the truck, I can get by without cutting into the firewall for the hei. But, I only have like 1/8" clearance for the radiator, and that's if I angled it. Are you v8 guys cutting into the core support for the radiator? How do I get everything to fit? Thanks in advance

One option is to dice that HEI and get a mallory unilite or similar. Then you can push it closer to the fire wall. You'll get maybe an inch at best but then you can put a pusher fan on the front of the radiator. Another thing to check is if you have the short or long water pump. The short pump gives another 5/8".

I don't have a HEI, my core support is still there and my firewall is stock. Just a few months ago I was able to pull my trans without moving the engine. I did make my own mounts.

You dont cut the firewall . A HEI will work and you will need short water pump and radiator moved forward .

There is another member on here that has done one without cutting the core support. I think his name is old rob. He runs power by ace.

There is a specific size radiator that will go inside the core opening with minimal trimming, may be that the radiator you have is too large...

If you have the budget than you could always get a custom radiator done.

Radiator is a 19x22x3 aluminum one. It fits in the opening, just don't have clearance for the pulleys.

The size sounds right. My radiator is in front of the core support. My support was cut back in the day using the article in Truckin' magazine but didn't have to be. I have 1-1.5 inches between the fan and the Radiator.

This is a brutal picture from when I bought my truck but shows where everything sat. My radiator is a stock Luv made into 4 row.

here's some pics. would rather not ditch the hei but I don't want to cut up anything else. I just started redoing the engine mounts today to push the motor back 1"

Cut out the arches under the top of the core support and move the radiator down and under the top piece , if that makes sense .

Thank you for the help guys! Got the radiator in today, pics will be in build thread. but still need a little more room. Will be working on getting the mounts to push back the motor 1" tomorrow. While we are on topic of v8 swaps, what are you guys running for throttle linkage/cable setups?
