The 1.9 probably has a mechanical fuel pump near the distributor, as far as I know the 1.8s used electric fuel pumps (but maybe not your '76). You can modify the 1.8 to use the 1.9 pump (punch out the opening, add the drive cam, tap the mounting holes if needed) or add the wiring & relays to the 1.9 to use the electric pump. Also the 1.9 uses a different flywheel, swap it to the 1.8 to enable the use of the bigger 1.9 clutch. You may have to swap oil pans, the dipstick tube may be in the wrong place for the different truck (it was for my 1.8 to 1.9 swap). There is a slight but noticeable difference in power between the two engines (2.5% hp, 6.3% torque).
