I just came across a 1980 4x4 Luv. I was looking into maybe swapping to an Jeep 4.0 inline six with tranny and t-case. Something out of an old YJ. Anybody have any comments or ideas if this will work?

Not certain but I'd guess that the inline six would be rather long for fitting into a LUV engine bay. Space between the firewall and radiator is limited.

I would have to agree. The 4 banger is about as long as will fit an inline 6 would take some heavy firewall work.
A 4.3 chevy fits well. The jeep 2.5 would probably be a good option as well if your wanting a jeep powertrain

The oil pan won't clear the stock front IFS & drive train on just about any engine you can think of to swap in, plus the tranny tunnel is very small & you have the back ends of the T-bars to deal with.

my 4.3 oil pan clears the front axle, its got enough room to fit at least a finger all around, using the powerbyace mounts and a 4x4 blazer oil pan. its close but it fits
