I have searched and could not find an answer. Can I use a double reservoir master cylinder on my 72 single reservoir? If not does anyone know where I can get a new single reservoir master cylinder or a rebuild kit? I just put a 350 in my truck. I'm getting vacuum for the booster from the intake. Not sure if this has anything with my brakes not working. Thanks

So I never had to replace my parts, but did notice there doesn't seem to be a replacement master cyl available in any catalogs. In trying to figure out what I could use, I started with the assumption that there was probably about one supplier to the 70s Japanese mini-trucks, meaning LUVs probably have parts interchangabiltiy with Nissan, Datsun, etc. I did some digging on RockAuto. Based on the pictures and years, here's what I found.

1972 Nissan 521 Pickup 1.6 L -- looks like a direct replacement for the 72 Luv brake master cylinder (single reservoir).

1973 Nissan 620 Pickup 1.6 L 1595cc L4 -- looks like a compatable small size vacuum booster.

Other options ---

If I were to fit disc brakes and couldn't get a LUV disc brake master cylinder, I would use

1972 Nissan 1200 -- brake master cylinder (Dual reservoir, intended for disc brakes, may not need proportioning valve).

If you want to forget vacuum boost, which some Chevys [trucks, Corvettes) much heavier than LUVs did --

1968 C10 -- manual brakes (master cylinder is designed for no vacuum booster).

As for the 'hot rod' brake master cylinders that are sold by Wilwood, etc; I've heard they are just Dodge (Chrysler) part numbers but am not sure which one.
