I was wondering if there is a certain length that stock axles can be narrowed to? And i was also wondering if 8 inch 28 spline axles are the same as 9 inch 28 inch spline axles and if the 8 inch axle can be used in the 9 inch housing if narrowed to the right length? And for those of you that have put a 9 inch or any other rearend in your luv still with the stock leaf springs what was the length or the measurement?

yes 8" 28 spline axles will work in a 9" small bearing housing and 28 spline carrier. beware that some of the axles (I think certain left sides) are tapered and cannot be narrowed and resplined. you can narrow the non tapered ones down to pretty much as narrow as you want. dont remember the housing width on mine... will have to go out and measure it.

np I try to help out where I can. btw these days its almost a better idea to buy aftermarket alloy axles. they can be had for about $350 which is about $100 more than what you would have into a pair of narrowed stocks.
