 Post subject: Direct Ignition System ?

Cant seem to find something like this for a Chevy V8.
i know the newer cars and truck run. it stock. my ? is can i take it off a newer chevy moter and put it on a old 1970s V8?

by irect ignnition are you talking about the coil on plug setups with crank position sensors and such?
i would think it COULD be done using something like a ford edis setup to run it and a megajolt ignition only computer like ctmandu put on his stepside with the yamaha r1 carbs. megasquirt and megajolt are some advanced systems for how cheap they are.

yep like ctmandus truck. but for a v8 setup. if i put a 350 in my luv id like to get the heads about 1" away from the fire wall. so no distributor setup. i liked how my V8 luv was. the front two pistons where all most over the spindles. but with my old luv i dont what to cut up the fire wall.

then yeah your gonna want an edis8 wheel and sensor setup and a megajolt or megasquirt 1 ignition only. cat had megajolt and edis4. they are really good for tuning ignition and you can mess with your timing whenever you see fit by plugging it in :lol:

They have crank fire ignition systems.Look at Jeg's,Summit or any other parts catalog. They also Have DIS setups for sale too.
