Just an FYI, the power by ace mounts bolt in to the stock mount locations. I have them in my truck and they look good.

That is all.

They don't go in the exact same spot, but the stock mounts are in the way for the new location.

Because the trans mount is stationary, we felt that was the best way to get an accurate location for the motor mounts was to install the engine and trans temporarily. You can partially support the engine on the hooker mounts temporarily without them bolted or welded, bolt up the trans mount (moving the engine/trans forward/back as needed) and mark the location where the motor mounts end up. Then pull everything back out and weld in the mounts.

Ben,
We found that the Hooker tranny mount is to high.
We lowered the Hooker tranny mount by 1 1/8 of an inch.
It takes cutting and welding on a new hooker mount you
just bought! but it is for the best.
Hooker recomends using camero engine block mounts and we
tried that. The rubber part soon broke so we went to a
solid steel mount that we made. problem solved.
When we lowered the tranny mount we had to lower the
front mounts by the same 1 1/8 of an inch. We did this
by throwing away the Hooker mounts! and fabricated a
new set of steel mounts out of 2x3 inch tubing.
We also had to cut the collector on the pass. side and
change the angle to clear the tranny cross member.
Other than that no problem.

Not sure why this is directed at me. I'm not installing an engine.

Personally, when I had my V8 LUV, the headers drug on speed bumps as it was. Another 1-1/8" lower on the engine and the thing would have been banned from parking lots.

But, to each his own.

I am about to do this and Ben's method has worked well for me in the past . I mock up the whole engine / trans combo and hang it in the hole with the distributor and move it back as far as possible with the trans mount in place . i will hang the motor mounts and stands and tack them into place , pull the motor out and finish weld it out . You dont have to cut the core support or firewall .
