So i got my sbc installed and all the mounts made. Shes about ready to go. I am having trouble finding the correct wire to power the hei. I have a constant hot wire on the bat terminal now and i get no spark at all. To top it off my hei distributor has esc also. People i have talked to said to jump the green wire and the black wire on the esc but i still get no spark. Can anyone shed some light on my situation?

Not sure which HEI distributor you have. I just use the bat (B) terminal and the tach one which is the one next to the B one. I use a relay to power the B terminal. The Luv ignition switch will not carry the current load of the starting on the HEI.

Check the voltage at the B terminal. You could have a bad coil, bad module, or pickup in the distributor I have also seen a distributor cap that is all fuzzy on the electrodes cause one to not fire the plugs. They do not use it anymore but the black colored rotors were prone to failing, use a white one. I always buy a distributor cap that has the brass plug terminals for every thing.

Too much info I am sure coil, module , pickup would be my best guess. I do not remember hojw to check each thing as a had some test unit from snap-on to check these..

I looked for a digram on the wireing on this setup. My old hard drive crashed so I lost a lot of this kind of stuff.

I think the auto parts places can check the module for you, at least the had the thing at one time.

The module tested good and the coil tested good. The motor is spinning really fast so it should have spark. I pulled the distributor out of a good running truck so everything should be working. Where in the harness would i find the right wire to hook to the hei bat terminal for power? Will a wire straight from the battery work to power it?

Not trying to be rude are you sure your dis is not 180 out and not hitting the right plug. set number 1 to top dead center then pull cap see if the dis is pointing at it if not you are 180 out.

I figured it out running constant power from the battery to the bat terminal on the hei. I also had to ground the distributor. Now i need to install the slave cyl. And figure out the driveline.
