You can also install a Pertronix aftermarket conversion kit on you dist.
There are several threads about it here. Here's one.

I got my 81/82 LUV distributor from Rock Auto and robbed an ignitor from an 81/82 LUV sitting in a scrap yard. I've seen those ignitors go for around $175 on ebay.

You're getting fleeced if someone is trying to charge $175 for an ignitor. $85 shipped brand new here: http://www.vintageperformance.com/retro ... vrole2.htm. That's the route I went since I couldn't find a used disty and the new/repops are all over $100.

I did the conversion kit in mine and it works great! Its really easy. I also did the conversion on my 74 fj 40 and it was a breeze.

check rockauto.com i got one for an 85 pup it dropped right in two wires to the coil and it fired up first try. incredibly simple to install and never have to mess with it. i got sick of adjusting my points on the old one.

currently $89 for a remanned one on RA + a cap/rotor for another 10-15 and your good to go

PerTronix install on a mustang (different ignitor and distributor but they install the same way)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-HzatlyDRA

or go the other way and replace the whole distributor with a new reman from rock auto either way you got to run 2 wires to the coil

oh yeah and setting timing
