I recentely purchased a T04E turbo, hks wastegate, hks Bov for my subaru legacy times are getting hard so i had to get rid of it, I have a 77 LUV that i thought i would slap the turbo on i just need to find a turbo manifold for a piazza, i dont know what other vehicles isuzu or holden produced turbo if someone can help me out on this topic it would be greatly appreciated. I have a Weber 32/36 dgv carb on it, would it be a good idea to run the turbo carby set up on this engine?

piazza aka isuzu impulse is the only one that will bolt up
other than that you would have to get a custom one from gemracing on ozgemini.com or make one.

i am going to be boosting my spare g180 in the near future once i get all the parts gathered up from various doner vehicles

it would work for the intake but you would also need a turbo exhaust manifold etc...
you can use the intake mani from a 2.6L trooper also.

you can turbo a g180 with a weber if you have the time to get it dialed in and you know what your doing. it will cost $$$$ to get it set up right either way you go with it

Still on the hunt for a turbo manifold, been at it all day. I found an aftermarket one for a trooper 2.3 which in the picture looks as though it is the same bolt patern but the trooper has round exhaust ports and the luv has square ports i only found a picture of that on a forum nothing for sale so far though.... starting to look like im going to be making one, that and a plenum for the weber.

yep sadly a lot of parts for a g180 for any kind of high performance application will need to be custom made or adapted to work. i have made myself a list of all the parts i will need and the ones i will need to make.

I am emailing back and forth with the owner of turbogemini.com, and he says he has three right now but he only sells them in a turbo kit, he said within the next couple of months he would have more that he can sell individually, we have not yet talked about a price.

any updates on the turbo build?
i finally got my extra head back from my dads so i can start planning out and building the manifolds, new valves etc and then bolt it right up to my block in my truck when im done with only a day of downtime.

make any progress?

Gave up on the turbo for now. still cant figure out my overheating problem, if i can figure out whats making this little bastard run hot ill be getting started on more power, either im going to turbo it or see what i can do all motor.

Sounds like you are having a lot of fun finding parts so may I make a suggestion. Save your money and forget it. Not to dampen your ideas but I owned a Turbo shop in Las Vegas for several years, back in the 70-80s. And we turbo'd several Luvs, Blazers, C 10s for a local chevy dealer. But the Luvs were a bust, the first time the engine pinged it took out the headgaskets!! We tried "O" ringing the block, making up solid copper headgaskets, even studded the block and nothing worked! I don't know how the Isuzu Turbo engines are made, apparently they have a secret technoligy (sic) but we finally gave up. Also these engines are pretty weak in the bottom so even if you managed to get a turbo to work I doubt if the engine would stay together very long.
On the other hand we had great luck with Toyota 20 and 22R engine, they loved turbos, stock engine put out 85 hp at the wheels, with 7 # of boost they made 175!!! But these had poorly designed pistons and these cracked at the upper ring grooves when they detonated. Installed forged pistons and they really smoked the tires, un believable horsepower,
Wish you the best of luck, if you are still inclined it is easy to weld an adapter to the stock exhaust manifold, bolt the turbo on, run a pipe over to the intake, put a Pinto style (Weber) carburetor in front of the turbo and go, very easy installation. But you will HAVE to run water injection in order for it work!!
Good luck,
dusty-scjconv

also the pistons are the weak part in the bottom end the crank will last through whatever power you can squeeze out of the head.. you can buy forged pistons from a few places in AU and have them shipped here. with proper head work, fuel and ignition mapping, forged pistons, (and rods if your going for higher boost levels, and an electronic ignition you can boost the hell out of the 1.8 liters.... i dont recommend boosting the 1.9L g200 since the bores of 2-3 are too close together and you will blow head gaskets constantly
