Can some one that has a running V8 Luv, that is using the hooker mounting kit take a minute and give me a measurement? What I am looking for is the measurement from the back side of the hooker mounting(WELDED) bracket and the line where the stock engine mount was welded to the frame . I don't think it is more than a 1" or so ? I know they say to install the tranny mount and then bolt it to it and then that will give you the placement of the front one. I have removed that tranny crossmember and just want to weld in the fronts for now and then later install a new tranny crossmember when i take the cab off. Also please let me know if you had to relieve the firewall or not with you measurement. Any input would be helpful. thanks sdeiter544 :esmile

i am by far the last person to competently post on this but wouldn't it be much easier to bolt up to the mount you already have in place and use a floor jack to level out the front of the engine to get your mount placement... a 1/4" forward or aft and your engine wont mount up properly or more importantly if they are welded in or out they wont line up as well... just my thoughts... every project is different... measure twice weld once....

There are more variables the truck is off the ground on stands about two ft. I have the motor in place setting on the mounts and not sure if I have the tunnel clearances enough. I think I have the motor where it should be but just wanted to see where others placed theirs thanks for the input.................

Ideally you want to get the engine back as far as possible to try and shift some of the added weight to the rear for better balance.

If you go to the home page of luvtruck.com and click on the information thread there is a article on the hooker mounts.

I was going to suggest that but he said he doesn't have a trans mount.
