i need a 4x4 differntail gears mine broke and i dont have a new one but the local auto parts stores do not carry and can not order the new carrier and spider gears for the rear end is it possible to take 2x4 rear end and put in my 4x4 or does any boday have 4x4 rear end that i can buy?

Uhh, what are you driving? There were some changes over the years.

As always Jack is right, regarding the year to year changes but to answer your original question Yes the 4 X 2 and 4 X 4 trucks of the same years are interchangeable BUT you may find it hard to find another one with the same gear ratio!! Just something to watch out for....

Let us know what year it is that would help alot. Most Luv 4x4 came with 4.10 ratio, rears are 10 bolts and you can get the diff out of some of the older Troopers with the 1.9 engines has the same 10 bolt rear diff and also has the same 8 bolt front diff as the Luv.

the troopers are 4.55s and only the 84, 85, 86 years are the same 10 bolt as LUV 4X4s

4.11 and 4.55 where the only gears that the frunt diff where made in 1979 to 1987.

2WDs had 3.42 and 3.73 added to the mix......some late 80s cars had a 3.90
