Answering your question about wiring? You can keep the stock water temp guage wire, the oil pressure sending wire, but since you will probably be using a one wire alternator, remove all the voltage reg wiring and use one HD wire from the starter hot wire to the new alternator If you still have the stock wiring to the fuel pump, you will have to run a new wire to it, or find the wire coming off the fuel pump relay that is located by the battery under a cover and direct wire the fuel pump to a keyed source.
I have mixed answers to powering the starter solenoid because some guys have simply connected their Luv's stock solenoid wire to the small wire on the new starter. I have not had that much luck, seems I have always had to install a relay that supplies a better current flow to the starter. Also I install a relay to supply the power to the new ignition, bigger wires, but again this is up to the installer. Good luck, I am sure you will get lots of suggestions from the good guys on here!

I have a 76 and i used a CS130 alt which is the same style as your LS1 will have . I suggest tracking out the wire and using the factory alt light in the dash to excite the alternator , adding a resister in parallel just incase the bulb goes out the alt will continue charging and not burn up the alt . Also the factory power lead to charge and the factory voltage sensing wire to signal how many amps the alt needs to put out . The three wire alt set up works much better or GM would use all 1 wire set ups .

I have had good luck using the factory wiring attached to the V8 starter on both trucks .

Next is the LS series in a Luv . I have not done this , but it appears they require extensive mods to fit ( hoping Wicked Mayham will chime in ) .

When your post count gets high enough post a picture or 2 of your trucks .

I too am having luck with this set up, 3 wire and stock wires to the battery.

Ok , i forgot to mention my old truck was a 1 wire 10 si / 12 si style . It worked , but i also went to the 3 wire set up with the 10 SI which for me worked alot better . At that time i has a big electric fan that was a power hog . The 2 wire seemed to "ramp up to the load better .

Basically SI style or CS style will work . I think the cadillac CS140 is 144 amps . At that rate you might run into problems with stock wiring . If you have a draw that is over 100 amps you need costom wiring anyway .

Keep us posted with the build. I'm going to be doing a 5.3 with a turbo in my 77 soon. It will be nice to know what issues or anything with the swap. Are you keeping the ls1 stock or doing some upgrades?
