been a while since i posted on here, but I've got a fully built 350 "resting" in my engine bay and I need a bit of help.

I'm guessing no one makes motor mounts for this swap (older luv's seem to be more popular). Can anyone point me in the direction of a picture/person/idea that can make this work. also, do to frame rail constraints, what kind of headers are other people running? i have a set of stock cast iron log headers which would seem to work, but i would love to go with a set of tubes if possible. I can post up pics tomorrow if you guys need to see what I'm working with.

thanks.

There's a guy on the IsuzuPup.com forum who's done at least one V8 swap.--in fact, he should be wrapping up on one about now. His name is "Kevin" and he goes by "V8pup" on the site. See The Next V8 Pup is in Surgery at this time on the IsuzuPup.com site. He should be able to answer any questions you have.

Jack

Hello,
I am currently driving a formerly diesel powered 81 Luv with a sbc and 700R4 tranny. I have done several of these swaps and they are much easier than the earlier ones. I've been doing the earlier ones for years and I much prefer the 81-82s! I can send you pictures, advise you of what works and what may be a problem. For example headers are quite different and nothing from earlier Luvs will work.
The motor mounts are easily fabricated right in your garage, I would suggest you modify the rear cross member so it can be removed because otherwise it is simply impossible to install the engine and trans as a unit. i can show you how to do this too, cost me about $20 to make. You will have to install the trans and then the engine otherwise. A stock pan will work, no need to buy anything there either. Send me your e mail address and I can take all the pics you need. I just cannot get pictures to post on this site.
One thing that really helps is the higher geat ratio that most diesel powered Luvs already have, mine has 3:42s. Works great with the aod transmission. Good luck, dusty pinkertondusty@aol.com

2nd reply, checked out the pictures on the Pup site mentioned above, these are GREAT! I use a lot of the same ideas, but later motor mounts, no problem, the 67-72 chevy truck are used a lot by swappers. My company did 206 Datsun 280Z- sbc V8 swaps using these!
The pictures are very clean and I think you will find all the questions you may have about the swap in them. I use an earlier non HEI distributor though, less fire wall problems. I really like the S10 radiator idea too.
I tried to register on the site and talk to the guy, but it didn't work out, quess I will have to talk to Joe I about that.
Again good luck,,

Check your "Junk mail" or "spam" folder. You should have an email there, with instructions. If not, let me know.

Thanks Jack,,
My reg e mail is pinkertondusty@aol.com, just in case that is easier. I will try to log on again.
Since I work on 81-82 Luvs so much, your site is invalueable!! There is a long wheel base Luv diesel on e bay right now going for 1,200. Pretty rough but all there?
The article on installing a sbc in a Pup was great!
