Im new on here an looking for advice ..
Hey i put a 305 out of a 90 or 91 caprice in my 79. Im getting rid of the TBI an making it a carb set up. An i picked up a shorter water pump for clearance . The water pump i picked up ( at car quest ) fit older V-8 like vets.. well i went to put it on an it hits my timing cover. Has anyone else had this problem or know anything about why, an if there is a way around it?
Any info helps thanks

It shouldn't. I have the short one on mine. The cheap gaskets are not very thick, I use Felpro. Occasionally, one of the bolt heads holding the impeller plate on the back of the pump sticks up too high and needs to be relieved a little...

Ya i looked at doing that but there is about a 1/2 gap so i don't no.

Ya im an idiot haha the time cover had a site tube off to the side an that what was keeping it from fitting.
