I just tore into my bone stock 1980 LUV 4x4 because the engine was toast (previous owner ran it out of oil). I pulled the engine last week (now THAT was a treat! ) and have it down to the engine builders for a stock overhaul. The truck is a California truck with factory A/C and has the electric fuel pump version head. It was 100% untouched original under the hood and it's got enough factory vacuum hoses to circle the moon! I'd like to get rid of all the smog garbage, get a better intake manifold and carb, electronic ignition setup, and possibly a header since it needs new exhaust anyway. I don't need full on race gear as it's just a daily driver, just looking for a cleaner engine bay without all the clutter and hoses, a nudge in performance, and hopefully decent fuel milage.

So........Where would I get a decent quality:

Intake
Header
Carb
Electronic Ignition kit
Clutch & Pressure Plate (any reason I should upgrade from a stock replacement?)
Bolt on Exhaust setup if one exists
Starter
Alternator
Air Cleaner
All new belts and molded hoses
Anything else I'm forgetting?

Thanks!

So........Where would I get a decent quality:

Intake - from Mokadeth on this site. he is the only one with any
Header - pacesetter... ebay
Carb - talk to ctmandu on this forum about the yamaha R1 carb swap... amazing power
Electronic Ignition kit - a pertronix distributor cap if you want to do it that way. or you could swap it to a ford style EDIS full system with a mejajolt ECU
Clutch & Pressure Plate (any reason I should upgrade from a stock replacement?) no not really. the clutch from a 2.3L trooper should bolt up but there is no real reason to upgrade from stock. i abuse the crap out of mine and it is holding up great.
Bolt on Exhaust setup if one exists - not that i know of its pretty much customize your own. its pretty straight back if you run it that way.
Starter.. also possibly from a 2.3L isuzu but i am not sure on that so dont buy one based on this  do some homework. browse the forum and you will find that all of these questions have already been asked, answered, and then tuned and improved upon. hit up the search and look for anything you could possibly want to do to your luv and someone has already asked the questions for ya.

Anything else I'm forgetting? a cam regrind would help a lot, and a bit of cylinder head porting Professional port jobs work wonders for the g series engines just not overkill porting, a little bit to smooth it out and make the airflow better
