its been done before. as far as i know it is pretty simple and an very easy fit, i thought about swapping one or a 4.3 with t5 but i ended up rebuilding a new g180.

If your topping out at 50mph, there's probably something wrong with it.

Can you give us more information on the truck?

with 33 in tires and your speedo reads 50 you are probably doing about 65+.

The other side of the coin is your tired motor is really hard pressed to get your truck up to speed.

i have a Trooper 5sp in my truck and Trooper size tires(30-31 in.) and cruise all day at 65 with a .030 over tired motor but it gets 25 average around town (when i get the new head gasket back on)

I am going to build another motor for the truck though as the pistons are rattling and i found another motor right next door to build while driving the old one.

Specs will be like .030 over,balanced,header.2.3 carb i already have an electronic dizzy in the truck, more on it later.

i agree, my tires are like 24 1/2" and i can still do 70+... the rpm required to do so is scary but it will do it. XD im running a weber 32/36 on a fresh G180, 2 1/4" exhaust with 4 speed... i need some newer aluminum wheels and tires from a 1/2 ton truck

i got a set of aluminum wheels that dont look half bad on my luv i could probably part with for the right offer, i got the feeling im runnin pretty low on compression or somethin, it can barely spin the tires on ice even, another problem im having is it wont idle below a 1000 rpms i got the idle turned all the way down and it wont go any lower and it willl only run with the air fuel screw tightened all the way in, im startin to wonder if this truck is gonna be more trouble than its worht but with my last name of love it feels right drivin a chevy luv haha

are you running the stock hitachi carb on it??? if so you way want to look into a replacement for it. they really are pieces of crap. i swapped mine out for a new weber 32/36... it flys now. sounds much better too paired with that bigger exhaust... next... straight pipe and interior.

once i have some spending money i will look into wheels and such. im making a list of all the things i "need" and the much longer "want" list is getting much more specific lately.

but yeah... look into the carb, the original one is probably gettin real tired these days if you still have it. mine was dead and my spare was crap too.

my 0.02 is why bother with a 2.8 when a 4.3 will fit just as well. Or bigger! More cubes for the same technology and volume. The one I really want to do is the Chevy Cobalt Ecotec motor, which I think is somewhere in the mid 2 liter range.

i was thinkin the 2.8 cuz i got a s10 blazer layin around, but i dunno anymore, i was gonnna trade my luv for a jeep and the guy never gave me the title for the jeep so i gave the jeep back, luv is still in my name at this point, and he wouldnt give the luv back so i reported it stolen after he agreed upon this then took the luv from me, the police said its a civil matter and that doesnt count as a stolen vehicle becasue the guy called the cops and said i would be calling it in stolen, correct me if im wrong but a truck in my name bein drven without my permission sure seems stolen to me, so now i gotta take the guy to small claims court, gotta luv the port angeles washington police department!! if there is anyone out there that has some knowledge of the law or knows anyone or anything that can help please help me out on this......oh and to top it off the guy parked to jeep in the middle of a street so it got impounded so he could say i didnt give it back
