 Post subject: Z28 oilpan?

The Hooker mount kit intructions say to use a Z28 oil pan due to crossmember clearance. Why do I need this, or do I even need it? My truck is slammed, so if it is a shallower sump with more ground clearance, then I will use it. I have the oil pan that came on my motor (71 3/4 ton truck) will this one work?

What year Z28 did it say to use. a regular everyday 5 qt pan should work fine. or you can upgrade to a 7qt low profile pan.
