The ranger rear end I was looking at was only a 7.5". But, the junkyard has a 8.8" from an explorer. I pretty much have any gear option because the junkyard has several of them. What would be a good gear ratio? I have a 350, TH400. 286 degree, .490 lift cam. Edelbrock performer intake, Holley 600, will be running headers with 40 series flowmasters. The tires I currenlty have to put on it are a 285/50/15. I need to run a 2200+ stall converter with my cam, but don't have the money yet. So, what would make for a decent gear ratio? It will be daily driven, mostly in town, but with some freeway miles. I was thinking something in the 3.73-4.00 range. I figured that would pull pretty hard, without being too low geared

what are you going to do with the truck. daily driver? Street? Street/strip? If its only going to see limited highway time, i would go with 3.73-4.11.

As far as that converter, I would go a little looser for that cam. at least an off the shelf 2800 (which will probably actually flash to about 2300 behind a mild 350)if you are going to be draggin' a lot.
