Hey guys.

Any of you 700r4 geniouses have a suggestion for me?

I'm working on my V8 swap (coming along very slowly) and last weekend, with the help of my younger brother and my wife, I got the engine and transmission pulled from my doner G20 van.

Now, I'm trying to seperate the engine from the transmission. I took off all the bolts, and have found that there are two more bolts that my sockets don't seem to fit in.

I used a 3/8in but it wouldn't go around the bolt. The 7/16in is to big to fit in the hole. The brand of sockets I have are Channel-Lock. I also have a cheap-o china set, but they were the same way. Do you guys know of a sepcialized tool, or a trick I can use to take these two bolts out?

since pictures are worth 1000 words...

Yea just the dowel pins..they are used to line up the tranny/engine. If you have all the bolts out it should slide off the pins and come right apart......

Thanks guys!

How embarrassing! I managed to pull the engine, yet I can’t figure out a dowel pin…

I hope you got the torq converter unbolted before you pull the trans or your not going to like the mess you make and possible damage.

It's still in the exact same position in the garage that it is in the picture. Havn't had time to get in there and get my hands dirty yet. Probably will get to it friday or saturday.

So I guess it's a good thing I stoped and posted this question...

I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all your advice. I got them detached. Also, thanks for the torque converter warnings. I used a rachet strap to hold it in place so it didn't fall.

The engine is now resting on the engine stand, and the transmission is sitting on the floor.
