It will hold as long as you don't build up the engine too big, but if it starts to hookup hard it want last long. With a stock 283 it should make for a great around town ride and be very cool.

The 283 even hopped up will be just fine in your truck and the rear will live fine as long as you don't put real sticky tires on it and try drag racing as it will break at some point.

I had a .060 over 283 big cam,14lb. flywheel and a 4 spd. in my truck for 2 years and no problems and i ran it hard but i didn't have sticky tires so they were my safety for the rear and it got good fuel mileage to.

You could find a 90=91 isuzu pup that came with the 2.6 and it has a 12 bolt in the rear with disk brakes just a tad wider but you could get that back with back spaced rims.

.125 overbore gives you a 301 cubic inch engine.... They were killer engines in the day.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
