Ok i have on my hands on a 292 inline six (chevy) and im thinking of putting it in my 78luv and modding it for a mud racing equivelent to a dragster. The big question is does anyone know how much power one of these will pump out and if i should run a 9" rear or not? Or has my inline motor banter lost you all agian?

Your gonna have to do some crazy mods to get it to fit. Your firewall is gonna look like hell to make room for the motor AND the manifolds. Im thinking that the tranny mount will be about a foot farther aft than stock. As for the axle, go ahead and run the stock one. The gearing should make it wickedly cool to drive and it might last for a good, long time before you rip it up.

As for the inline 6 banter. I-6 motors are very cool in their own right. Talk about smooth running! I not to keen on the slant 6 though. I though they were too goofy to take seriously(the younger crowd may not know what a slant 6 is)

The thing about them was the fact that they had a lot of weight offset from centerline. The intake manifold was something that i just couldn't get over. It must hold the record of being the ugliest intake ever designed.

Thats very true... But it's still an ugly-ass design of a motor. Im sure that there are folks that sing the praises of the slant 6 and im not trying to knock them down. I just could never embrace the concept. The only time i seriously had to work on one was in the middle of the night and it had a painfully worn-out timing chain. The timing marks were lined up thru a hole in the bell housing. The marks were stamped on the torque converter. It took awhile to get it sorted out to even run because the owner didn't believe in maintaining the truck. She was just pissed that it didn't work right and she was losing business with the truck being down. And she wanted it fixed YESTERDAY!!! That bitch...
