ok i have been trying to figure out just what i would need to do to put a simple EFI setup in my luv since i plan on going turbo soon
what all would i need to modify to be able to hook up an EFI setup and what vehicles would make a good donor?? i would assume probobly an older model car/truck when efi was a bit more simple and everything electronic wasnt wired through one obnoxious unit and maze of wires.

i have an extra motor so time isn't really a problem i just need cheap and effective

ok so im wondering what the difference between a carburetor style intake and a fuel injected intake are? could i modify my carb intake to work with a throttle body or should i just fabricate up a new one?
i think i have an idea of it but being 18 and just goin off thoughts isnt going to make a performance engine so i think i should be asking someone with some experience.
would making a adapter to put an airflow sensor and throttle body on a carb intake work out? and where would i ned to put the fuel injectors? could they be mounted into the carb intake as well at an angle pointing twords the cylinder more...
on the gemini site fuel only fuel only setups were mentioned for turbo? not sure the difference if anyone knows anything about that?
im making a rough sketch of my idea to to make it a bit easier to understand my babble

ahh i think it was a fuel only ECU?
either way i would need to mount up an ECU so i would need several sensors
mass air flow
throttle position sensor
not sure of the rest???
i would like to get an EFI or atleast TBI setup before i hook up a turbo and screw my engine up with the carb
would a TBI setup be hard to adapt for the LUV?

incredibly simple and lame looking drawing but eh i never claimed to be da vinci
would a setup similar to that b usable with the fuel injectors mounted on te individual intake lines in the mani after the air has passed through the throttle body or does it need to be injected throught the TB?
would the TBI setup from something like a S10 2.8L engine be reworkable to work with a turbo'd G180??

would that be a direct bolt on swap from a early model FI trooper or impulse??? or would i need to do any major modification? a little bit of rotary file work on the ports and such isnt a big deal if needed
cat gave me the idea of swapping over the FI and turbo setup from an impulse, anyone know where i would be able to locate one in the vancouver/longview WA portland/salem OR area?

Another one would be the TBI off a 2.5 early S-10 or F-Body (camaro/firebird )

IDK for sure, but I would think the first couple of years. S-10s first year was '82.

Yea, my '82 S-10 had the V6 in it. So I never even saw under the hood of one with the 4. But from what I hear it was the Isuzu 4.

Try 87-92 S-10 for the TBI 2.5 (was also known as the iron duke ) and the F bodys

would that be the same "iron duke' that was in the pontiac fieros? if so i might have to see what i can swap over because that was a good engine

answered my own question
The Iron Duke (also called the 2500, 151, Pontiac 2.5, Cross Flow, and Tech IV, though the decal on the air filter assemblies actually reads "4 Tech") was a 2.5 L (150.8 cu in) I4 piston engine. All Iron Dukes were built by Pontiac beginning in 1977 and ending in 1993.
and is rated at 85 horsepower and 123 ft lb of torque

I have a factory EFI setup in a box from an Impulse/Imark and it looks to be a direct match as far as bolting to your head. I believe you would need to correct sensors from the donor motor along with the computer to make it work correctly. But usually getting the computer going is a four wire setup if you know which wires are which.

Any GM vehicle with the Pontiac 2.5 after '82, excluding some Canadian models which were carbureted, should have the Rochester 1bbl TBI. The same model TBI was also used on Cross-Fire Corvettes and 305 F-bodies, as well as GM 1.8/2.0L engines of that era (albeit with different size injectors). It seems like an ideal candidate for the LUV and I have been considering it myself, if I could get a suitable adaptor made. They have an "oddball" 3-bolt mounting pattern and a 44mm bore. The 2-bbl truck TBIs are better suited to our intakes IMO.

an adaptor plate shouldnt be that hard to make would it? set it up with the right size center hole and mark/bore your holes for the bolts from intake and the new tbi setup and bolt it all togather with some silicon gasket maker and loctite your bolts and it should be ready to go once its all wired up
if i can locate a good TBI setup i think i will do a write up on the process and make myself an adapter plate for at. possibly make a few and distribute some but not sure on that part yet, kinda limited on materials at the moment.
