Post subject: New Diff for a KB20
PostPosted: Sat Aug 02, 2003 6:36 pm
Ive got a 73 isuzu KB20 and it is completely stock. I was just wondering if anyone knows what diff would go straight. Im after a low gear cause i want more top end. Any help would be much appreciated and if anyone has worked on a KB20 i would really like to know what you've done to it.
Thanks in advance

You could get the rear out of an s10 and get a new driveshaft made for it.

The s10's came with 3.73:1 gears, whereas most luvs came with 4.56:1

actually most luvs i have seen have 4.10s. But anyway whith the isuzu mini trucks the s-10 rear ends are a direct swap. You just need a new driuveshaft as the pinion is completely different.

Don't spose you would have a rough estimate for how much it will cost for a new diff and a driveshaft aswell as the cost of gettin it put in? or is a job i could possibly do myself?

The best way to do it is just get the back end of diesel kb it will just bolt on and that will up the gearing a bit.

I found my S-10 rear for $100 and had the driveshaft made from another I had. that can run anywhere from $70 to $250 depending on if you have the right yolks and length of tube.

You could run a taller tire.
