I bought this lock up kit for a 700r4 transmission for TCI. I have called them several times to ask questions about this kit. But there just to dam Mississippi to understand. If anyone has installed one before you will probably be the most help. I have all the wiring in the pan done rite. 2 wire solenoid is in. I understand that one wire go's to 12V. An one go's to ground. What i dont understand is the wiring that go's to the vacum switch they give u? Anyone know whay to do with this???? :)

THis is the one I have, the wiring is similar to the TCI, if I remember right. The switch has one wire that hooks to the brake pedal switch (the one that is powered when you apply the brake to make the brake lights work to drop it out, tt locks it up around 45 mph with the 2 wire solenoid. You can use the stock 4 plug wire in the case, and just trace the wire from the solenoid to the plug and connect it. This kit is about $14 on feebay...

I have just installed another one of these kits so maybe I can help? If it is a TCI #376600?
The plug that comes with the kit has four wires coming off of it. The picture above does not show the two connection pressure switch that comes with the above kit, did you install it into the valve body? The red wire goes to a switched fused 12V source. The black wire goes to a vacumn switch mounted in the engine comparment, this switch locks up the converter when the vacumn is over a pre set figure and speed, although it can be adjusted with the mini allen wrench that comes with the kit. There is a second black wire that comes off the prementioned black wire about 6 inches from where it is attached to the transmission, this one can be wired into a second brake light switch so the lock up will be canceled when the brakes are applied. Personally I have found it convenient to wire in a 3 position switch on the dash, in the middle position the lock out system is canceled, to the right the system works as mentioned above, to the left you can lock up the converter manually anytime you like. In other words the lock up system works when the solenoid is GROUNDED!! I can fax you the directions that come with the kit if you like, along with my notes regarding installation of it. I have talked to TCI by phone several times and they have been very helpful. I cannot seem to get pictures to post on this site, but can send them via e mail, pm me you e mail address and maybe I can help you there. sorry I am computer illiterate.
Good luck, dusty :egeek

I stand corrected, as the above kit does not utilize a vacuum solenoid...

Ok so i did some messing around with my kit. Yes t the tci 376600 kit. An i figured it out.. once you replace. The pressure in your tranny with the two wire presure the kit comes with, an you have the inside part of the plug pushed into place. The outside plug or (the other part of the Plug that the kit comes with) it has the black, green an red wire sticking out of it.. now this kit did come with a vacum switch, an i mounted mine on the fire wall so that i could run a short vacum line to the carb.. the instructions tell you nothing about how tto wire the vacum switch. The only thig it says is to hook the vacum to the carb. So when i called them again an told the guy that. He didn't belive me till he looked it up for himself. Once you mount the vacum switch its grounded.. now you take the black wire that is coming off the plug an run it to ground. The red wire go's up an connects to one side of the vacum switch (the one i mounted on the fire wall) then run another wire from the other side of the vacum switch to a 12v switched hot. I hooked mine to my ignition. Now the converter will go into overdrive in fourth gear threw the vacum switch. Now the green wire that is on the plug on the transmission were the red an black wire are, is optiona. If you want to be able to lock it up in any gear, you leave everthing hooked up (in my case this is how i got it to work, but i didn't use the green wire) you simply run that green wire to a toggle switch an ground the other side of the switch ( a grounded switch). That will allow you to look it up in any gear. At least that's what tci told me.

Glad you got yours to work that way, but in my case the vacumn switch is not grounded. You run 12v to the red wire and go thru the vacumn switch to ground when it is activated. Interesting though, maybe they changed designs, have to check on that.
One other thing: This kit sells for about $85 thru Summit, the Painless kit is identical except they include a new solenoid with their kit, why I don't know, but their kit is $185!!! I shopped around and the TCI kit is the least expensive and the best I have found. Your only alternative is the B and M kit for $185 and it uses the speedometer drive to activate. Does have a dash mounted switch to "dial in" the speed you want to lock up the converter. Nice gimmick, but usefulness is questionable...
Glad the guys at TCI was able to help you,
good luck,
dp

Mine as pictured above is activated @ 45 mph internally with the transducer (in normal driving, spirited driving mode is somewhat higher, lol...), and it unlocks the convertor when power is applied via depressing the brake (it is wired to the brake light switch).
