my 1.8 has serious issues and I was wondering what engines can easily be swapped. I am not a mechanic or anything but I read that an isuzu 2.6 from a trooper will work? could anyone send ideas or advice it would be appreciated. I feel the 1.8 although slightly built is pretty under powered. thanks

All Isuzu 4cyl engines have the same bellhousing bolt pattern, so all will bolt to your tranny. Use the oil pan from a 4x4 version to clear the front differential. For a 2.6 swap also use the intake, carb, distributor & flywheel from a 2.3 to eliminate the EFI/computer & allow you to use your stock fuel pump & clutch. This swap puts out about 115hp with no engine mods, a stock 1.8 is 80hp. Expect clearance issues at the firewall & possible cooling/radiator mods. You'll need to use all the 2.6 engine accessories & brackets.

Is there any value to my shot 1.8? Bored .30 cammed Oppenheimer pacesetter etc.' metal in cylinder 2 moisture in 4. Trying to figure out if the truck is worth keeping or if I should sell it. Thanks to any responses.

If your engine can be rebuilt it has that value, if not then the value is only in the performance parts. The block can be bored .040 if that will clean up the cylinders. If your head is still good a 1.8 head on a 1.9 block gives a good compression boost. A rebuilt 1.8 or 1.9, especially with the performance parts retained, would be cheaper & easier than swapping in a 2.6 engine. A running truck, whatever the engine, is worth a lot more than one with a blown engine.
Ask yourself, would you keep the truck with a new engine? If so then it's worth keeping, if no then not, you'll probably never recover the new engine cost.
