1. Never claimed to be a "professional" or to have "awesome automotive skill". In fact, I started this thread asking for advice, and believe it or not several people here have provided constructive input. I know where my skill level is and because I work a full time job, teach at one of our local universities during the evening, attend graduate school, and have a family to care for, I can't spend as much time working on my projects as I would like, so my learning curve due to time constraints has been slow.
2. Just because you think it's "unreasonable" to put a big block in a Chevy Luv, doesn't mean the rest of the world does. In fact, I have discovered several guys that have built Luvs and gone the big block route. Last time I checked it was my bank account and my truck so I will build whatever I want. Again, people in this thread have given useful advice on how to complete the big block swap and I thank those of you that helped out.
3. Start a pissing match with you? I think you started all the shit talking. And before we go any farther, there is no doubt in my mind that you have more build experience and technical know how than I do. Like I said, I am just a weekend guy with this project trying to make the thing happen and have gotten alot of local support (in fact, from A1 machine where I have been taking parts to probably before you picked up your first wrench) to help get it done. Your front end conversion looks professional and I am sure you put alot of time and effort into that process.
4. Finally, don't know what "making an enemy out of you" is supposed to mean. Quite honestly I don't really care. If you wanna race, let's do it this summer. If you don't, that's fine by me as well. There is no doubt in my mind that your 231 is probably a screaming little engine, obviously weighs less, and probably moves your Luv along at a good clip. My big block is moderately built at best right now, but that doesn't mean I won't have fun running it. If I win, good for me. If you win, good for you and I'll tell you congratulations. This truck is undergoing a long process and at the end of the summer, it will continue on that process..
