Basically, it is shares a lot of characteristics of a Chevy 12 bolt. The weak link to both is the c clips. Axles with eliminators are cheap, so if it was free, I'd take it and install it. May need to be narrowed, but so will the 9 most likely, also necessitating new axles, so you are money ahead by not having to buy a 9. A lot of S10 guys are putting the explorer 8.8 rears under their trucks, using 2 stock short axles (the rear is offset) and the s10 rear will work with the right offset wheels in the LUV, so that is another option...

'90-'94 US-built 2.3L/5sp Isuzu pickup (VIN does NOT start with "JAA-") has the same GM 7.625" rear as S-10's, Camaro's, Monte Carlo's, Cutlass's, has 4.10 gears, same 6-bolt wheel pattern as LUV, spring perches may need relocated inwards, lots gears/posi stuff available, but it's 4" wider than a stock LUV. It's not as strong as a Ford 8.8, but not as wide either. Another option with the correct width (54") & lug bolt pattern is a '85 back Toyota 4x4 (8" ring gear).

thanks for the advice on the 8.8, i came across a 1st gen s10 rear end for 30 bucks from a friend i might just go with that one no need to narrow it so cheaper for now may get the 8.8 and narrow it in the near future.
