i have a PUP 5-speed (dont know what yr) in my LUV and i am wondering what fluid it needs...i have been told gear oil by parts stores but noticed in my manual that the LUV tansmissions take motor oil. can anyone tell me which one is correct?

ive put 75-90 gear oil in mine and never had a problem

Gear oil is "weighted" on a different scale, and I've heard 75 is okay. But 90 would be death to the transmission bearings.

I think the early manuals called for straight 30 weight, but later they said 5w30 or 10w30.

I run 30w in mine year round here in Montana and haven't had a problem. IT does give the option for 5w 30 I think but I stick with 30W and and shot of SFR.
