Hey Ben, or whoever else has a TH400 transmission, how much work is involved in getting a 400 mounted? Hooker doesn't sell a kit, I see.

Piece of cake. The TH400 is the simplest of them all.

Pick up a trans mount like this one: Image

Make a flat plate that measures about 2" x 5" by about 1/4" thick.
Drill two centered holes that are spaced to line up with the two trans bolts on the top of the LUV crossmember.
Drill two more centered countersunk holes that are spaced to line up with the TH400 rubber mount.
Use two flat head countersunk bolts for the TH400 mount going up through the plate from the bottom.
Use two stock trans mount bolts going down through the plate into the crossmember.

Does a mount like the one shown line the motor mounts up where they need to be? I am using the Hooker motor mount kit. I am getting ready to put my motor in soon, so if you could let me know, I would really appreciate it. Thanks
Daniel

Its as easy as redrilling your trans adapter...

I however prefer the TH350 over the 400. you will find a loss of about .2 in your ET's at the strip and about 1-2mph trap speed loss. This is due to the heavy rotating mass that causes parasitic hp loss.

most efficient trans for any drag car under 3100# is a built PG. but for street, TH350 all the way.

Sure the TH400 is supposed to be stronger than the 350 but there are cars running 8.70's around here on a TH350 and a 28x10 slick. Ya just have to build them right.

The new hot trans to build is the 200R out of a Grand National. They are called "the powerglide of the milennium" and are supposed to be stronger than the TH400 when built right.

I suppose none of this matters now since it sounds like you have already got all your components already and are fixing to install soon but this is just food for thought.
