Hello I am new to the luv trucks. I have been doing some research on headers and motor mounts. Seems half the stuff I read someone says one brand n type works well n next thing I read next person says they don't fit. So I am looking for headers n mounts to do sbc swap in my 1980 2wd. If someone has a set used i would possibly be interested. Any help would be great. Thanks

Hooker has headers and weld-in mounts.

powerbyace.com has headers and bolt-in mounts.

The hooker headers won't work with the ace mounts. The ace headers won't work with the hooker mounts.

I had the ACE stuff in my old truck and it fit great.

I used the ACE headers and motor mounts with my '80 conversion. I put a 4.3L v6 in mine after studying the difference in size between the v8 and the v6. The v6 was so much easier to fit, not a lot of cutting and grinding. The ACE headers fit very well and installed "fairly" easily. If you can put them on before installing the engine, it may be easier. The only problem I had was the driver-side header came awfully close to the steering shaft. Not a real problem but I watch it. ACE has re-designed the v8 headers for easier installation, I think. Good luck with yours!

I was working on a newer chevy van today with a v6 and was thinking how it would fit really nice in a Luv. Plus you can get a lot of ponies out of the new ones.

I did a V8 conversion on my 73 LUV in this forum, I used the Hooker motor mounts, trans mount and headers.
That kit is well made and been around for 20+ years. The ace kit bolts to the stock 4 cylinder mounts, but put my motor too far back into the firewall. Lots of others here have had good luck with the ace kit.
The stock 4 cylinder mounts are thin and weak, I personally can't imagine feeding 350 V8 HP+ (or much more) through them with the ace kit.

I would think a Vortec V6 would be awesome, just perfect and with aluminum heads light too.

Can you swap the vortec V6 heads on an older 89-93 4.3 V6 block and use the TBI set up or a 4.3 V6 carb manifold?

I made my own mounts so I could move my engine as far back and low as possible so I didn't have to mod my firewall. I got lucky and the Hooker Headers still fit.

Yes the hookers will still fit even though I moved mine back 3.5 inches.

Actually the ACE mounts for the 72 - 75 trucks have been around since "73" under a different name. The 76 - 82 mounts came out in early "75"
The stock frame mounts are short and they're design makes them very strong. I've seen a blown 406 with nitrous on them them. They did have solid mounts as the rubber mounts back then would pop at the first hit.
The V8 mounts put the engine right at the fire wall for the best weight bias. They are slotted to move it slightly forward.
There is a V6 Datsun PL620 (I know Boo) at Irwindale that is crazy fast with alum heads an 4 barrel. Has ACE mounts and headers.
