I have my motor together except for the heads and manifold. After doing some research I think I will pass on matcing the intake to the heads. Looks as if it is way too much trouble and will likely have to build up the runners on my intake to match the bottom of the head ports. looked with a mirror and the intake shimmed on and the intake runner is much lower on the bottom but the tops are pretty close.
Read I would need to epoxy the intake and build it up to the heads or have aluminum welded in it to the right height. Think I'll just gasket match the heads and leave it be. probably not that important since it isn't a competition thing but it would be nice to get as much out of them as possible.
All I need to finish starting to reassemble the truck is a 750 double pumper. My aluminum raddy should be here tomorrow. Hope to have it together and in primer by July or mid July.

Well now I found out my roller rockers off my old engine won't clear the valve springs. Can I grind off the rocker around the swivel to get it to clear the springs or will I need to get new ones and if so how do I know which size to buy that will fit or what shape to get that will miss the spring. :econfused

I have machined the rockers for clearance if it isn't a large amount...

Same here, but we're talking less that 1/8th of an inch of material removed.

Mine needs to be flatened out in front of the trunion bearing and then rounded off at the point were it goes over to the valve once you get it on the stud. . Don't realy think it is an 1/8 but it sure looks like a lot of material when I ground it off with a die grinder to clear everywhere. I assume these don't have to be balanced do they or will they wobble on the studs if they aren't true. Completely reshaped the arch in the rocker in front of the trunion and housing.
be my luck I need new rockers now.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

I have 3/8. The 3 I have ground down seem to be ok. I took about .040 off in the places needed. I think .125 is an eight of an inch. Shouldn't have to go that far even after smoothing out my roughness. Shouldn't weeken them I wouldn't think. Just have to clean them good before I get everthing ready to go. Just time consuming and one more setback.
What is the difference in the ratio numbers they talk about and how do you know what you have or what to get if i get new ones. How will I know if they will fit any better than the ones I have.
