OK before anyone says anything I got my heads in. I went ahead and got the cheap Pro Comps cast in Australia just to see how they were and if they are worth using. i only paid 620 for the pair. I know there has been a lot of bad stuff said about them. but most forums are from 2002 or so I have seen. The company has made a lot of changes supposedly in them as far as quality control. I took them to the machine shop and am having them check them out and pull the inner springs off. i am having them check the different things like vakve seats, guides etc.
They look good as far as the casting goes but will still have to knock off a few small burrs but not bad. the runners are really quite smooth for real. The runners are really set up high but the 1206 gasketwill work fine. Will have to see about matching my intake to it. the deck is very smooth on them also.
If my friend at the machine shop doesn't really like them i might send them back and wait to get more money for a brand name set.
another guy that works there has a set on his 406 small block and likes his so I guess I will have to see.

problem ive always heard about them is warpage, they dont have enough meat in the areas where they need to be to keep from warping excessively.

but like you said, they have been alot of changes. so good luck!
