In 2003 I bought an '89 Impulse on Ebay for $800, brought it home and found out it was rusted so bad it was worthless to try to fix. NEVER BUY A CAR AFTER DARK! I ended up pulling the drivetrain and engine and scrapped the car. Everything's been sitting in my garage for quite some time now. I stuck the old 2.3 up on Craigslist for $150, but apparently nobody wants it, lol.

Yesterday a guy emails me up asking if I still had the 5-speed from the old Impulse, and will it bolt up to an '80 Luv without major headaches?

I have:
Transmission
Flywheel
Clutch/pressure plate
New slave cylinder
Driveshaft
Rear trans mount
Can't find the shifter, gotta turn over a few more rocks in my garage

He said he's had the Luv since it was new and it's in mint shape still. What do you think would be a good package price for all the parts if it IS feasible?

The Imp trans is all set up for a hyd clutch making it just about perfect for a 76-77 LUV, but the 80 LUV will have a cable clutch and create some headaches making it all fit together. Not that it can't be done, it just isn't a direct, bolt in, hassle free swap.

I actually have the same trans sitting waiting to go into my 77 when I get some time.
