I plan on dropping my soon to be aquired 76 luv 2" in the back & the front accordingly.I want a hot rod look, not totally pimp style. What do you think 15 or 16 inch? I plan on using steel rims w/ beauty rings.

I have always liked 15s on any truck, big or small lifted or lowerd. Then you fill the rest in with tire. I like to have some side wall to put a shine on.
Like on a full size 4X4, 35s or so on 15s. I've always liked that. Old school i guess.

if you can even find 16" rims, they would be pretty nice for a low hot rod. And getting tires is easier and there are a bigger variety of passenger tires in a 16" tire. I can't remember evactly why but the trouble I had finding the right wheels, is the Inside diameter of the wheels hub hole. something was totally wrong on the 16" wheels although the bolt pattern was the same, So I pretty much have 15"X 10" wheels for now.

if they are wheels that came off another vehicle then chances arte the hub is made for that vehicle and wil fit very few others, if you buy aftermarket wheels they cut out the hub to fit a vast majority of vehicles that way they dont have to make several hundred versions of the same wheel, same bolt pattern, diff hub size. if you go with different size wheels test fit, and drive before you buy to save loss of money and ripping hair out

I'd go with 15s as well, I'm not into the skinny tire look. Makes it ride harsher, harder to install the tires. There are plenty of options in 6 x 5.5 bolt pattern for 15" rims, Summit Racing shows 319 part numbers.

definately agreed that 15" tires are easier to mount. ( I work in a tire shop) and for a smooth reide the 15" 's are awsome.

guys, im trying to figure out what tire size/wheel size combo to got with now that i have a need to replace my tires.

i was looking at a 15 inch upgrade, but cant seem to find a suitable tire that will fit. many dealers dont carry light truck tires in 15 inch wheel diameters, and i really dont want to run a passenger tire on my 4wd. any ideas?

what size wheel can i fit without having to cut fenders or use adapters? i want to be able to keep everything under the wheel well, and not let it stick outside of it.

any suggestions are appreciated. images are definitely a plus

215/70/r15 should be fairly close to fitting and are a common light truck tire.

any ideas for the wheel size?

i was looking at some Allied Daytona 51 wheels that are being sold locally, and while it may be the right bolt pattern, i'm not sure about the back spacing and such.

what are my working limits?

305/70R16s are too big, but I like stock Rodeo steel wheels with 235/75R15s. I ran them on my 81 2wd with minor rubbing before I cut my fenders, should fit a 4wd even better.

i forgot you had a 4wd, you may be able to fit 235's comfortably might even get away with 31x10.5 with a lil fender trimming. as far as backspacing goes i have no idea, most common toyota and chevy rims should work fine just check before you buy :ewink

If you want a "hot rod" look it is big and little to me. To me that would be 15s and 14s or 16s and 15s. I run 225/55R16 on the rear and 15" on the front. But mine is not lowered .

16"

Isuzu wheels will fit. Rodeo is a good choice. Toyota wheels fit. I like the early 90s tundra wheels. Chevy wheels won't fit without a lot of work. They have too small a center hole, and the lug holes are too big.

I think 16" with a nice low profile tire sits better in the front fender wells. Then put bigger tires in the back.

i found a couple of chevy 1/2 ton wheels that may work. hopefully they will i didnt think about the lug hole diameter.

for 40 bucks and a leisurely trip down to spanish fork i figure i can't really go wrong.

on top of that, i've seen that 15 inch tires are more common and cost just a bit less than the 14 in variety. i need to make sure i find myself some good LT tires instead of running passenger tires like i have been.

I would go with 15s. My dad had a GMC Sierra with 16s on it and he had a hard time finding (used) tires for it. Everywhere he looked he found 15s. I have 205 70 14s on the front and 235 60 14 on the back of my LUV. With the truck lowered three inches.

yeah, i'm thinking that 205/70/15's will work nicely. its 4wd, so i cant exactly run a staggered sizing

yeah 205 or 215 will look good and are common LT tires for a 15 inch rim

It sounded like the first post was on a street driven truck... That said, Camaro's use 16" tires like mine, both our Vue, Equinox use 16" tires... That should not be a problem for tires. someone here was running some nice steel wheels and beauty rings with hub caps

I run the non LT tires on my 4X4 with no problems and the reason is they are much lighter in weight then the LTs. Why think of you tires and wheels as 4 flywheels that you have to start and stop. Also the non LT tires were built for cars that weigh 1000-1500 lbs. more then our trucks.

My Saturn Vue runs 215-70 R16, I would guess My wife's Chevy Equinox would be the same.
