This could be genius or just dumb. But this is what I'm thinking.

I have an 82 Chev. Luv diesel 2wd. Great running diesel, great body. broken tranny.
I also have an 81 Chev. Luv gas engine 4wd. Blown engine, horrible body, good tranny/transfer case and front end.

Option #1
Remove the tranny/transfer case and front end assembly from the 4wd and bolt it under my 2wd luv.

Option #2
Swap diesel engine and the body from the 2wd to the 4wd frame.

I think option #1 would be easier and faster if it's possible, but am willing to do option #2 if I have to.

Any help or advise would be great thanks.

Option 1 will not work, the 2wd frame is different from the 4x4 frame.

You will still have some work to do with option 2.
The gasser and diesel engine have different engine mount locations, just grind off the gasser engine frame mounts. Cut out the diesel frame mounts and weld into 4x4 frame.
