I just got a used elec. dist. from a newer LUV or Trooper or whatever.

There are two wires that I'm not sure about. One is from the + side of the coil and one is out of the igniter. Where do these go? Do I just let them hang?

It already has a 2 wire plug from the coil/igniter to the dist. so i'm good there.

I got it hooked up. It ran. It ran idling and I reved it a few times, in the garage for an hour. Set the timing and idle and all that.
I took it out and it sputtered and died in 1 mile. No spark out of the coil. It did the same thing with the Pertronix dist. and a different coil.
It ran ok (a little rough) on a points dist. but, never died out. Any ideas??? These are different coils, different dist. and it is getting gas. I tried to run the power into it right from the battery but still nothing.

I just got an idea. I'm going to remove the wire that comes from the loom to the - side of the coil. I wonder if something is grounding it out once it's hot.?.?

Fixed it. That black w/ red stripe wire that goes to the - side of the coil. I removed and it runs great. The book shows that wire going to the dist. and to the speed sensor. Whatever. It runs fine without it. 8)
My daughter is happy, she has her 4X4 back.

This is a stock elec. dist and coil and ignitor a newer than 80 Isuzu something. I don't know.

From the ignitor there was a wire with a green plug on the end. I hooked it up to the wire that comes from the key switch. The wire with the white plug I left hanging.
