Here and there I see references to the interchangeability of post-1982 Chevy and Isuzu powertrains. I'm looking for a 5-speed to bolt to my '79 1.8L. The Isuzu transmissions are hard to find. Will the 5-speed from an early 80's S-10 or S-15 four banger bolt to the 1.8L? Are the blocks the same as the GM 2.0L?

If its behind a G200 chances are it should fit, but being in a Chevy the box could be a US built one and the rear part of the box could be totally wrong.

Any PUP with a G180 or G200 motor would be all right.
The PUP and trooper (and impulse 2.3L and 2L turbo) with the bigger 2.3L or 2.6L motor the box will also bolt up to the back of the motor but the tailshft yolk is a larger size, probably as simple as swappin the yolk on the end of the tailshaft of swappin in the whole shaft out af a later truck with the correct wheelbase.

The 2.6L used a hydraulic clutch and it is hard to convert to mechanical so your best off to swap the older hydraulic stuff into your Luv.
The Impulse box can easily be reverted to cable clutch.

Apparently behind some of your 2.6L's they used T5 boxes. Ive never seen one so i can not comment.
