Does anyone know if an Isuzu 5-speed MT from a 92 Pup will fit the old '79 Luv 1.8? I have to drive 400 miles to get it. Don't want to waste a trip.

If it's now bolted to a G series engine in the donor truck...then it probably should. The only way I can think of to know for sure is to take the adapter plate from the rear of the engine in your truck with you and compare the bolt patterns.

If the truck its come from is a 2.6L then it will bolt to the rear of the alloy headded crosflow 1.8L.

What about the 1.9/2.0L or the 2.3L?

Yeah them too

But if its come from a 92 it is more likely to be a 2.6
Could be a 2.3L

If its from a 2.6L it will have the remote gearsick shifter thing on it. That will mean moving the hole in the floor. Not sure how it would work with a bench seat.

I have buckets from a 94 Trooper in there. I'm still working on this 87 Pup in my neighborhood. The woman who owns it wants $500. This is a non-running 2.3L with 5-speed MT, rearend and all the parts I can pull. One catch - it has no title. We agreed on $500. Suddenly her son jumps in the picture and insists on $1K. ???? 20 year-old truck, no title, broken windshield, hasn't run in six years, $1K???? Still trying to convince the son. They have like six dead cars in the yard too.

Even $500 is a bit of an ask. I wouldnt pay that for a running one.

You want to check out what scrap steel is worth in your area. Buy the lot of em and cart them in for scrap.

We get stiffed down here IE: your Cat converter price is more than twice what they are offering here.

I got $250 a ton for car bodies the other week. Thats a dollar for every 4kgs you find. I took 3 cars and a pup cab in. One was an Isuzu WFR van, less motor and gear box and i got 1820ks out of it. I was so proud. lol. It was full to the brim with all sorts of crap.

Pull out the radiators and battery cables. Thats heaps more $$$. Alloy wheels are worth removing too but you have to get the tyres taken off. Could even be worth stripping the wiring looms out.

But then i suppose it can all get a bit anal over your way with enviromental concerns etc. The Government might even have you paying someone to strip it out so they can make money off you.

I agree $500 is overpriced. I have a torch and welder so I'm going to make a trailer out of the bed and give it to a coworker who is a single mother of two and could use it behind her Toyota minivan to haul stuff to and from her small farm in the Hill Country. The rest I'll use. I think the rearend has better gears for mileage (I average 75 miles a day,) the driveshaft goes with the MT and the motor, a 2.3L I think, will get to rebuilt when I take that class this Fall at the local CC. I'll get my $500 out of it. As for scraping, I'm taking the two series 4 1.8's I have to the metal yard as soon as that series 8 goes in the LUV. This all depends on the son, unemployed aged 50 living with his mom, seeing the sense in the offer.
