So what is the best and cheapest way to get posi in my s10 rear end. I have a 9" that i'm going to put in later so i dont want to waste to much on this one. Can i just take a Differential out of like a camaro or something. The one wheel wonder just isn't cutting it. Help please.

Yes, you can pull the carrier from any Camaro, Firebird, G-body, Blazer, S-10 or anything else that ran a 7.5" rear axle.

The only note of caution is the gear set on the carrier. Certain carriers are made to fit the gear sets of 3.08 and below or 3.23 and higher.

So insure that the gear set in your rear matches the carrier your pulling. So if you have 4.10s now, pull a posi from a car with 3.23s and higher.

So what are the most common gears in the s10's. I think i pulled it out of a 4 cylinder s10. And what do think the best car would be to pull that out of?

3:42 - 3:73 in the ones I run across the most.

I have one left over from my 9" swap. It had one of those factory "spools" in it, the kind that had little teeth around the ring gear for it. That thing was awesome! Hooked up everytime, both tires a firin'! I was told as well that it had a stock gearing of 4.11, now it may be a 3.73(ish?) but it was geared like it. Pulled it from the junkyard out of an 89 s10 blazer 4wd (so it was the wider axle :( ) but i do not recall if it was a auto or manual.

If your looking for some cheap traction and dont mind the wheels stickin out, go with that.

Hey thanks guys. I just found about how much it's gonna cost me to have my 9" put in and i'm looking at about $300 for narrowing, $300 for axles and then $500 for the locker. Guess i might as well save my money instead of wasting on something i'm just gonna tear out of there anyways.
