Hi all! Just had a real quick Q about HEATER CORES...I'm kinda scared to hook mine up. lol! I'm worried about the cooling system pressure that the 350 produces compared to the isuzu. I'm running the Howe which has a 20lb cap on it, but i know the luv did not run at 20.

So I guess my question is have any of you had a heater core grenade when you hooked it up after a swap? And on that note, how well do they hold up during normal use? My core "looks" in great shape (no prior leaking or crusties on the inside). Have any of you used a metering valve or a pressure gauge?

THanks!

cool, figured as much. I think i'll just do it, as soon as this snow lets up. :(

Also! -- Does anyone have a 350 coolant routing diagram? I'm thinking out the W/P bypass into the upper heater core connection, then, out into intake maybe. Thanks for all your help too!

FYI I have a short W/P and a weiland manifold with 2 bypass locations in the front.

Mine is ran like you described and it works good. We got the idea by looking at a few chevy vehicles in the junk yard way back when.

Waterpump bypass to one side of the HC, other side of the HC to the intake manifold. I don't have a water shutoff valve on mine, but only because I'm too lazy to fab something up.
