Well a good place to start is by cleaning all of the connections that go to the fusebox under the hood. Luv's are well-known for having major electrical problems because of corroded connections there.

Next I would go through all of the plug-in connectors and check for corroded connectors there, and check the two main fusable links that are connected to the battery, usually right at it's positive post.

Then check all over your truck, both under the hood and underneath along the frame, to see if all of you ground wires are making a good clean contact.

BTW...Unfortunately, you will probably notice somewhere along the way that someone has done some pretty poor "creative electrical engineering" to your wiring somewhere.

But hey - it's a pretty old truck and odds are it was bound to happen, so don't be too surprised if you find something that makes you scratch your head and ask yourself, "WTF were they thinking?"

Good luck...I hope this helps you!

Mine did the same, ended up being the cables to the starter. . . it's like the Autozone commercial. . . without the autozone haha

For the drain on your battery check the Alt. as they can blow a diode and will drain the battery. How to check is to un bolt the big wire and leave over night but if you have access to a volt meter pull the wire and check from the wire to the stud. There is always 12 Volts to the stud but there should not be a voltage reading unless a diode is out.

You can also try a test light. Unhook your negative cable at the battery and hook one end of the test light to the battery post and the other to the cable and don't let it ground out. If the test light is on then you have a draw. Pull fuses until it goes out. It's probably in your fusebox. I put new fuse boxes from advance auto and it fixed my problem.
