I know my '80 luv has a G200 (PO did not). before I go buy stuff to tune this up (cap, rotor, plugs, wires) are there any things I can look for that will give away what year truck this engone is out of or is there any difference between diff. year G200 engines that might cause me a problem? what trucks had this motor ( I assume '81 plus luv and pup?)

And early trooper and some impulses had them but with EFI.


I dont know any way to tell the difference.


There is only one difference, the G200 from the impulse with EFI had higher compression.

Oh and another, electronic ignition. If its got a points dizzy its earlier or the one out of the G180Z that should be in your luv is in it.

0.9mm gap for points
1.1mm gap if its got electronic ignition.
