Just found this tonight, with gas prices going nuts, I thought you guys might want to try this.

http://journeytoforever.org/biofuel_lib ... h/me3.html

Took me a few minutes of looking at this to figure out how it actually aerates the mixture, but it's simply using vacuum to pull the water through the air stone.

I'm thinking you could hook up the bubbler source to the smog pump. This would give a constant flow rate to the aerated mixture. I have no idea what kind of PSI is generated by the pump though. Probably need another T-valve and a relay to turn it on or something when RPM's reach a certain point and the vacuum drops...hmmmm...

I plan to use a windshield washer reservoir with an 'empty' indicator and wire a light into the cab as a cue for refilling.

My gas gauge is haunted, so I really have no idea what my MPG's are, but I could definately use some low end torque. It looks like this truck might become my daily driver, so I'm going to get started on this soon :)

I've already messed around a little bit with fuel vapor injection (running the carb on 'fumes') on my old camper. Never bought a Colortune, but it sure would be nice to have one...

http://www.eagle-research.com/fuelsav/carbenh.html (same concept as the water injection only it draws vapors off the float bowl)

Post a reply if you put one together, what can it hurt for the $5? I'll try to take pics of mine too...

Sounds like a plan, looks like I'll need to come get your smog pump.

Anyone know if there is another vacuum source on this engine? Or can I run a tap somewhere and pull all the smog stuff? Almost seems like a waste to add another belt/pulley just to get vacuum...

Back in the seventies when we had the oil embargo, a bunch of those water injectors came out. When everybody decided to just pay the price and drive because the devices didn't make that much difference, the devices kinda faded out again. Water as you know will not compress so it adds some compression. Today's computer cars would do much better if you had some sophisticated system to read barometric pressure and find out how much moisture is in the air so the proper caculations could be made to inject the right amount of water into the system. As far as the alcohol goes, when there is moisture in the gas tank the alcohol will mix with the water and it goes through the system mixed and not as straight water which would cause problems. In the alcohol race cars, it takes five times as much fuel to get the same combustion as gasoline. It burns a lot cooler though and the alcohol cars I've seen run very well. Even small amounts of water are not good for your engine over the long haul, but maybe someone has figured out by now how to make it work.

The concept here is to run this on a carb'd vehicle, but there are water injection systems much like you've described available.

Not to be argumentative, but from my understanding, I'm going to disagree with your evaluation of 'long term water injection damage'. (i.e. long term steady RPM load aircraft/marine applications.)

You might find these sights interesting...(or not?)

From an engineering perspective, I'm confident that no harm could come from this , and it may actually provide a small, measurable improvement.

Turns out my smog pump is siezed so I've not had the opportunity to install anything yet. I've fabbed together a similar unit to the one in the original post using a two way fish tank valve I had on hand. I need to correct my lack of vacuum advance before this makes any sense, but the smog pump should provide the vacuum I need, and give an additional vacuum source for the bubbler.

Well, this actually works. I have no way to know if it provides any benefit at this point, I haven't permanently installed it. I bought a large mouth sports bottle at Walmart, and a fish tank bubbler stone and stuck some tubing together with a fish tank two-way valve. Bubbles like crazy. I'll get some pics up once I figure out where to put it. :)
