I installed a xr3000 which installs the same way as an xr700. There should be three different wires. Black, Red, Yellow. They might be colored different of some sort. Black is for ground on vehicle, Red is for positive side of coil, and yellow is negative side of coil. I remember my "yellow wire" was actually white striped. Let me know if that helps you at all.

Edit: make sure that there is a resistor or ballast for the coil. The xr700 needs this or its going to get very HOT.

what about the crank sensor? and any other wires i might need.
I have 3 wires all are black with 1 yellow stripe and 2 with red stripes. :?: all of them go into one loom and possibly one of them comes out to the crank sensor. and the ground that goes to the intake manifold, is it ok to have multiple ground lines on the coil? i'm sure there is more but i cant think of it until i take another like tomorow.
thanks for the help

I realized that i have 2 black wires with yellow stripes and one black w/ red. The connectors for these wires were swaped with a different type by a shop that i used to work for, so i cant figure where they were plugged into on the old ignotor. If anybody knows about all that please help. i'll try and get a picture of it tomorow weather permiting. :?

i've got the luv all wired up, got power everywhere its needed and 3 good grounds  I reinstalled the dist. exactly how it came out, i'm a little confused about the instructions from crane and how to alighn the rotor tip with line on engine.....and then align distributor with the rotor tip. the rotor only goes on one way. what am i missing here :smt102 :smt100

i know the firing order is 1-3-4-2 but not sure if its clockwise or counter??? and where the wires go?
