Correctly...unless you really like wild rides and surprises.

If at all possible...take both drivelines and the truck to a good reputable driveline shop and just let them do it.

Unless you do that voodoo that you do so well...that you can determine the right parts that fit, determine the correct parts that you will need to make it strong enough, measure it precisely, cut it perfectly straight , carefully weld it together perfectly straight on a lathe, and balance it exactly yourself....I wouldn't attempt it.

Custom-made drivelines can be a little spendy...but fabricating one yourself in your own back yard out of whatever junk parts you have laying around is definitely not any option to explore.

Like the man ahead of me said. It needs to be balanced or you will have worn trans and rear end bearings. Spend the money now or pay well over double later. A good driveline shop will tell you how to measure for the correct length they need to make.

if youve got a motor that needs a th400 behind it, i dont think the stock rearend is going to hold up very long. instead of spendin the cash to make a driveline for a stock rearend, you should spend the money to get a better rearend under the truck first.

Yep..good sound advice there.

Some people adapt a ford nine-inch, some use one from an S10, some use one from a Monza, some have used a newer isuzu, and lots of other stuff...but the stock Isuzu rear-end that came in a Luv was way too wimpy to be hooking up any big engine/transmission combinations to it.

Not sure what lenght you need for a 400 but I have a brand new ballanced one here I'll let you have for 25 plus shipping. It was in my truck untill I switched rear ends. Not sur what the lenght is but could measure it from center of hole to hole. it was built at at our big truck shop here in town. Not much milage on it at all.

a stock rear end will hold for awhile,i'm using one welded up behind a 406,the 350 with a 3000 stall on 10.5 slicks running 7.0 in the 1/8th. yes i know it is a matter of time but until that day i'm just saving my money for a 9 inch. :lol:
