im getting a 3.8l with a manual tranny and i was wondering can i put my transfercase on the tranny of the 3.8. and if it will fit will the 3.8 be to much power for the thing. n e help will be appreciated. thanx

I'm not familiar with the configuration of the 4x4 LUV, so bear with me.
If the stock transfer case is bolted directly to the transmission, I would say that it wont bolt up. I'm guessing that the engine/trans you are installing is from a 2wd vehicle, correct? Most 2wd transmissions require a different output shaft(shorter normally) to turn them into a 4wd trans. They also have either a shorter tailhousing, or none at all.
If the stock transfer case has a short driveshaft between the case and trans(called a divorced transfercase), then you shouldnt have much trouble.
If you could provide a bit more info I may be able to help a bit more.
What trans is it? What is the transfercase model number?
As for the power handling of the stock case, I couldnt tell you. Probably will be a bit on the marginal side if youre gonna hammer the thing hard.
