:D Finally got things straightened out on the Motor. Instead of rebuilding my heads, I bought double hump heads with 202 valves and finally got everything back together. I"ve pulled this motor more times than I want to think about but I drove her to work this AM and set off a car alarm in the parking lot. Let me tell you, that made up for all the aggrevation I've had over this build. I barely had the radio on and just about freaked every time I heard any type of noise but temp and oil pressure were great and she seemed fine. But, that being said, I'm not going to say the "r" word (running) or the "d" word (done) so as not to jinx anything. Through all the problems with the new motor though, it just kept getting better - 6" rods instead of 5.7" - double hump heads with 202 valves instead of 195 and hardened push rods with guide plates. Combined with the 40 over on the motor, it does sound sweet and will definitely put you back in the seat. When I took it out last night to get gas, I left the hood off and some guy followed me to the gas station and 15 minutes later I was able to get my gas. He said he passed me and heard the truck and had to turn around as he had to look at it. He's trying to put a small block 400 in his s-10. It was hard to be humble.

Fun to read your story.

I'll never forget the first time I drove the truck with the V8 to put gas in it. There's something about driving a project to get gas for it for the first time...

Anyway, have fun!

I agree mine will never be done, but if you get bored with it drive it around the block. You will get the looks and the find a new friend. Nothing like a LUV with a stance and a lope.

Made it through the weekend and all appears . . . . . . . well you know what I'm not going to say  Stopped to get gas for the mower Saturday and some guy in his brand new paper tagged Toyota SUV said he liked my truck. I thought to myself I've got less money in mine than what his cost but yet mine's basically brand new and I don't have car payments - wahoo!!!!!

Are you going to put LUV in your name if I do? I also found you an 8.8 spark plug boot yesterday when I was cleaning off the carport if you still need it - granted I remember where I put it. Whatcha spraying and where? Meritt has to wait for the green stuff before he can start on the J20. I think he's going to disassemble the J10 engine to redo the top of the J20 but the intake gasket alone was $80 - gotta love (ooops, I mean luv) those 31 year old jeeps. Got your header on yet?

My header hasn't come in yet. I'm just gonna sand it down then bomb it white, then I'm gonna put 2 big fat stripes down the bottom. Also I'm gonna pick up some doors from the pull-a-part and I want to make some half doors.
